You only need to venture out to your local shopping hub, cafe or waterhole to notice that inter-racial couples are in abundance.

In the US, interracial marriages grew by 28 percent between 2000 to 2010 (US Census). And that doesn’t include unmarried partners where the numbers are much higher. The Australian Government doesn’t release figures on the ethnicities of marriage partners but if you take a moment to observe, you’ll see that interracial couples are everywhere.

I’m in one. And so are my sisters. My cousins. My friends.

So while it’s a little bit sad that in this day and age, people are offended by a Cheerios commercial portraying an interracial family, my faith in humanity is restored when children react differently.
